On the Outside Looking In

We would love to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to visit our hospital. Hopefully, you will soon see this view in person!

Greeting Area

We love to welcome everyone that walks in our doors. As we are a small hospital, sometimes we aren’t up front to greet you immediately when you arrive. If you don’t see one of our staff members in the receptionist area, it is because we are working with a patient in the medical assessment (exam) rooms or treatment areas. Please ring the doorbell to let us know you are there and we will help you as soon as possible!

Medical Assessment Rooms – Surf and Sail

We would like to introduce you to both of our exam rooms. As this is the Outer Banks, we like to keep with the theme of beach and not have ‘Exam Room 1′ so your pet will be examined and assessed in either the ‘Surf Room’ or the ‘Sail Room’!

Sail Room

The sail room gets it’s name from Colington Harbour on Wednesday Nights! Dr. Taylor and his wife love to sail and try to spend as many days as possible out on the water. The sail room contains a folding examination table to make more room for larger dogs.

Surf Room

The Outer Banks is well known on the east coast for it’s spectacular surf. For the wonderful waves, we dedicated an exam room and several spots on the wall to surfing. Dr. Taylor gets out on the waves just about every chance he can get. In the surf room, your pet will get the best of care while you relax in our laid back atmosphere!

Treatment Area and Laboratory

A good treatment area is essential to any veterinary clinic or hospital. Our hospital comes loaded with state of the art laboratory equipment. We have the ability to perform a full blood chemistry panel, a compete blood count (CBC), thyroid testing, blood clotting (coagulation) testing, urine analysis, parasite screens, and more! At the Outer Banks Veterinary Hospital, your pet doesn’t have to wait for a diagnosis!

Surgery Room

We pride ourselves in offering the best surgical options on the beach. Dr. Taylor has experience performing a multitude of soft tissue and emergency surgeries. Dr. James Clark, a Board Certified (ACVS) Veterinary Surgeon, performs most of our orthopedic surgeries and other complicated surgeries when needed. We also have several windows throughout our surgical suite which allows for maximum patient monitoring both during and after surgery. All patients that undergo general anesthesia at the Outer Banks Veterinary Hospital have an IV catheter and are monitored for several vital parameters including pulse oximetry (pulse ox), electrocardiogram (ECG), and Blood Pressure to make anesthesia as safe as possible.

X-Ray Room

Don’t be fooled by our apparent small size, the Outer Banks Veterinary Hospital also has the ability to perform radiographs (x-rays) as well! We routinely examine patients for heart, lung, orthopedic, and abdominal diseases.
